The Better Traders Journal is a trading journal and self-review app. It is designed to work local-first: your journal data stays on your device unless you choose optional cloud sync, anonymous pattern sharing, or AI review features.
The app is not a broker, investment adviser, trading-signal provider, or financial advisory service. AI reviews and Insights summarize your own journal entries; they do not recommend buying, selling, or holding securities or crypto assets.
Information you enter
The app may store the information you enter or generate in the app, including daily rule check-ins; Mood, Focus, Stress, and Decision-Making scores; readiness score and zone; pre-trade, reflection, and journal notes; position tickers, status, and outcome labels; onboarding and commitment settings; reminders and appearance settings; 10-day review records; and subscription entitlement status.
By default, journal data is stored locally on your device.
Optional cloud sync
Cloud sync is optional. If you create a sync account and sign in, the app may sync your email address, account ID, profile settings, entries, notes, positions, and 10-day review records to our backend so your data can be restored or used across your devices. If you do not sign in, the app continues to work from local device storage.
Purchases and subscriptions
Apple App Store or Google Play handles paid subscription purchases. RevenueCat manages subscription entitlement and purchase/restore state so the app can unlock and restore Pro features. We may receive purchase status, app user ID, product ID, and renewal or cancellation state. We do not receive your full payment-card number.
AI reviews
Pro may generate 10-day reviews from your journal data. The app sends compact structured journal data to a private backend endpoint, which may send a minimized review request to an AI model provider to generate the review. Written notes are excluded from AI review payloads by default; you can enable note inclusion in the app if you want a review to use written notes. When cloud sync is enabled, review outputs are stored with your account so you can revisit review history.
Optional anonymous pattern sharing
If you enable it, anonymous pattern sharing may send structured fields such as rule adherence, diagnostic scores, readiness zone, outcome label, broad position status, and day of week to help improve aggregate app insights.
It does not include your email address, account ID, name, written notes, journal text, position tickers, exact entry dates, broker information, or account balances. It is separate from cloud sync and can be turned off in Settings.
Notifications
If you allow notification permissions, the app can schedule local reminders for check-ins, streak progress, and 10-day review milestones. The current app does not upload push-notification tokens for remote marketing messages.
How information is used and shared
Information is used to store and display journal entries, calculate readiness scores and milestones, unlock and restore paid features, generate requested 10-day reviews, provide optional sync and restore, improve aggregate insights when you opt in, and provide support.
We use service providers to operate app features, including Supabase for optional cloud sync and backend functions, RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management, Apple App Store and Google Play for billing, and Anthropic for AI review generation through a private backend. We do not sell personal information or share journal entries with third parties for advertising.
Delete your account and data
You can delete a cloud sync account and its cloud journal data in the app: open Settings → Account & cloud sync → Delete sync account. Your journal data stored only on your device remains on that device until you delete the app or remove the data locally.
If you need help with a deletion request, email support@thebettertraders.com from the address associated with your cloud sync account.
Retention and security
Local journal data remains on your device unless you delete the app or remove the data. Cloud-synced data is retained to provide sync and restore functionality unless you delete your sync account or request deletion. Generated reviews are retained with your sync account. Anonymous pattern-sharing events are stored separately from your account, used only in aggregate, and retained for up to 24 months before deletion.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect app data. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and contact
You can use the app without cloud sync, delete a cloud sync account, turn anonymous pattern sharing on or off, keep written notes out of AI reviews, disable reminders, and manage subscriptions through Apple App Store or Google Play.
